Tonka beans, also called kumara or cumaru – this name comes from the coumarin contained in the beans (usually its concentration is 1-3%, sometimes even 10%)

The homeland of Tonka beans is Venezuela, from where this plant left and now grows almost all over South America - mostly in Brazil, Guyana and Suriname

Tonka beans will have excellent compatibility with chocolate and desserts made from it

Also, they will taste great together with berry and fruit sorbets, desserts, cakes, creams, as well as with ice cream

The taste of Tonka beans is more unique together with fish dishes, as well as if they are added to homemade mayonnaise, tomato paste or sauce, also to soup

Try cooking Tonka beans in milk for a few minutes, then add a little nutmeg and previously blanched and lightly toasted almonds - make a great milk jelly by thickening the milk with cornstarch
